The term chipboard (PLP) means a board composed of the particles of timber or wood-like plants, in which the wood chips are bonded with an organic bonding agent mixed with chip mass by using hot pressing.
To produce chipboard, wood treatment waste and small-diameter roundwood from the thinning out of forests can be used.
The differences between the board brands are mostly due to the different production technologies, the quality of the wood chips used, the amount of chip layers and the gluing technique.
In a single layer chipboard, different-sized chips are spread out evenly throughout the board. In layered boards, the larger chips are placed in the middle of the board and the smaller ones in the outer sides, which gives the board a more smoother surface.
A wooden chipboard is a homogeneous material, which is easy to treat.
The chipboard offers competition to the MDF board, which has a better surface quality and more easily processed edges.
Mainly used as the surface layer for doors and in the furniture industry.
